Peta Metcalf Stockdale
Docent
I was born in a little fishing town in the north of England in 1936.
After teaching school, I was hired by trans world airlines. I was in the first group of English girls to be hired by an American airline. This was in 1958, before the jets! I flew for TWA for five years before becoming the first English girl to become a Supervisor of Hostesses. - Howard Hughes was my boss!
I was married in 1963, living in Santa Fe and Dallas. I have two children; Kelly and Scott. During my time in New Mexico, I was Director of Dining Services at the Fort Burgwin Research Center in Taos, N.M. I also taught school in Dallas and was Chairman of Childhood Education at the Presbyterian Day School. I then became a Senior Librarian at the DeGolyer Library of Special Collections at Southern Methodist University.
I moved to Raton, N.M. in 1979 - Here I became an honorary member of the Raton Arts and Humanities Society and Director of the Old Parr Art Gallery. I moved to England in 1992 but finally returned to Santa Fe in 2012.
In 2015 I became a Founding Docent at La Fonda on the Plaza. I have always loved telling stories! The story of Thunderbird Ridge Ranch is the most enchanting story of all. I look forward to sharing this story with our clients.
