Stephen Picha

Event coordinator and Facilitator

Stephen Picha is an organizational leader, teacher, and change agent with more than twenty-five years of experience in both nonprofit and for-profit organizations as well as in the public school system.

He currently serves as a Community School Coordinator in the Albuquerque Public Schools helping to develop strategies with students, staff, families, and community partners to transform the elementary school, Valle Vista. Prior to that, he served as Education Director at Ghost Ranch Education and Retreat Center from 2012 through 2021, project manager for a large restoration project along the Rio Grande in 2011, and as Executive Director of the Center for Action and Contemplation from 2001 to 2011.

His partner in life is Mary Jo and he loves being father to Grace and Luke, who are now young adults pursuing their college preparations and life journeys. As a family, they steward a beautiful developing homestead in Albuquerque, where we pursue Permaculture principles and practice.

Querencia (a deep connection to place) is his grounding; helping people of all ages access their gifts and talents is one of my greatest passions. Finding the extraordinary and exceptional in the ordinary excites me and creating and guiding rituals for individuals and groups is one way he gives back to the generous Universe that holds and guides him. He calls himself a Weaver as he loves to take different strands and bring them together as a beautiful tapestry.

He has deep gratitude for many mentors and elders who have taught me as well as for the guidance of Green Man, the Sacred Feminine, and the wise Churro sheep.

Stephen’s motto for life is to Be Strong and Stay Vulnerable
